Khio Match works because people show up as themselves and treat each other well. Break these and you can be paused or removed. Something wrong? Text Khio "report" any time.
Be real
- Use your own recent photos, with your face clearly visible. No celebrities, no filters that change who you are, no group shots where we can't tell which one is you.
- Tell the truth about your age, your school and what you are looking for.
- One account, yours, with your own school email.
Be kind
- No harassment, threats, insults or pressure. No hate based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or anything else about who someone is.
- Saying pass is fine. So is being passed on. No one owes anyone a date.
- If a date isn't a fit, say thanks and wrap it up politely.
Respect consent
- Consent is a clear, freely given yes, every time, and it can be taken back at any time. No means no, and silence is not a yes.
- Never pressure anyone to drink, to go somewhere else, or to share their number, address or socials.
- Never share someone's photos, number or messages without their permission.
Show up, or say so
- Someone is planning their evening around you. If you can't make it, text Khio at least 3 hours before.
- A no-show pauses your account for two weeks. A second one removes it.
Keep it safe
- Meet at the public place in the plan. Khio never sets up a date at someone's home.
- Tell a friend where you are going and get yourself there and home.
- Drinking is optional and only for people of legal age. You never have to.
- Trust your gut. You can leave any date at any time, no explanation needed.
Not allowed, ever
- Anyone under 18.
- Nudity or sexual content in photos or messages to Khio.
- Selling anything, promoting anything, or asking for money.
- Offering or asking for sex for money.
- Violence, or threats of violence.
- Pretending to be someone else.
Reporting
Text Khio "report" at any time, before, during or after a date. One word is enough; add details if you want to. When you report someone:
- Any date with them is called off. They get a neutral message that the date is off, not that you reported them.
- You two are blocked from each other for good.
- A person on our team reviews it, and the reported person is paused while we look.
- We may remove them, and in serious cases we may contact police or campus security.
If you just don't want to see someone again, text "block". You two will never be matched again, with no report.
If you need help now
- In an emergency, call 911.
- Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton support line: 780-423-4121.
- Alberta's One Line for Sexual Violence (call, text or chat): 1-866-403-8000.
- Campus security at your school can help on and around campus.
